Akai S2000
The Akai S2000 was used on almost every single song on D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L
and Kicking Cars as far as we know, with the exception of a few samples from the Yamaha SU200 and DJX. Examples like The Eyes Of Ibad are interesting where the "Steel Drum" sound from the Yamaha DJX was probably sampled into the S2000 and pitched down 2 octaves, the timestretch feature on these samplers was heavily used by the band, especially for slowing down drum beats (can be heard in songs like D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L and Laputa.
Andy has said previously that they believe the bitcrushed sound on Stabilisers for Big Boys was done on the S2000 by turning the sample rate down and pushing the gain, but i believe it could have been done using the LO-FI BOX preset on the Roland VS-840.
The S2000 has the same motherboard as the S3000XL, of which i happen to own one, i've spent quite a bit of time recreating songs using it.
